    Description
    1967 Plymouth GTX
Plymouth had been in the performance game for years, though it typically came in the form of options buyers could add. The company even beat everyone to the punch and put out the first pony car, the Barracuda about two weeks before Ford issued the Mustang. But then the hundreds of thousands of sales of the Mustang quickly overshadowed Plymouth's sports car. So, when the company issued the GTX, they had issued their first full-blown muscle car. Over at Dodge the previous year, engineers had based the new muscle-bound Charger off the Dodge Coronet platform, which was shared with the Belvedere. Instead of creating an entirely new line in 1967, Plymouth just made sure everyone knew that the Belvedere GTX was their muscle car, the "gentleman's" hot rod.
For consignment the introductory year of the Plymouth GTX. Essentially, it's a Belvedere in GTX clothing with a dual scooped hood, a unique grille, and of course the 426ci Hemi V8 engine coupled with a Torqueflite 3-speed automatic. Split buckets with a fold down armrest and looking as good underneath as above we could state "Gentlemen start your muscle cars!"
    Exterior
Bathed in its correct Bright Blue Metallic paintwork which was a pro job now presents as the deep end of the pool. Straight steel slabs with no rust are minding their gaps very nicely and this backs up the previous owner's claim that there was very little replacement needed when they undertook the original restoration. Hard edged Mopar design abounds with mostly straight angular lines throughout. Stainless trimmings surround the windows wheel wells and accent the lower roof line as well as add a highlight to the rockers on either side. A large chrome gas filler cap is on the drivers' rear quarter, and dual black stripes run up the hood, and continue on the trunk deck. Lighting on the back is integrated into a horizontal ribbed trimmed bar and the shiny bumper is tucked neatly below. One has to love the B pillar roofline which shows sporty and classy at the same time. 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels are on all 4 corners and these are wrapped in raised white letter radials.
    Interior
The classic black interior includes factory correct vinyl upholstery believed to be the original coverings from 1967. Front buckets are flanking a center fold down back/armrest to form a "buddy seat" if needed in a pinch. In back is a wide bench matching the pattern of the front buckets. The original clean and crack free dashed. This shades factory instrumentation including a 150mph speedometer. Also, a rare dealer installed AM/FM radio is in the center of the dash. Fronting the dash is an original steering wheel wrapped in a vinyl cover. Door panels are sporting new reproduction handles, window cranks, and chrome armrest bases with new rest pads installed also. A black nice and tight headliner in vinyl is above and below like new black carpeting floods the floors. These have embroidered GTX floor mats to cover and protect them. Consigner states that a rear defogger has been added for additional safety on a rainy dreary day.
    Drivetrain
Under those dual chrome trimmed scoops lies a brutal and correct but non original 426ci V8. The self dubbed "elephant engine" utilizes cast iron heads, forged aluminum pistons, and a solid lifter cam to twist a stout 10.25-1 compression ratio into 425hp output. The block presents in Hemi orange and correct textured valve covers on top of those factory heads. Dual 4bbl Carter carburetors are hidden under a polished chrome and decaled air cleaner cover. The engine rebuild included NASCAR rods, all else is factory spec. On back is an A727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission which pushes power rearward to a Dana 60 3.54 Sure-grip rear axle. Other small goodies can be seen throughout the engine bay highlights such as factory decals, a reproduction MOPAR battery, and factory correct wash reservoir and brake booster.
    Undercarriage
This B body car needed only a partial restoration due to the excellent condition it was in prior to doing so. The underneath is as nice as the topside with a thick coating of undercoating, large H pipe chambered muffler exhaust system, and the HEMI suspension which includes torsion bars in front and leaf springs on back. Power disc brakes are upfront and power drums are on the back.
    Drive-Ability
A quick starter and great performer on our test track. It presents with good handling, power steering, and power brakes that provide a bias free panic stop. All functions were working as they should, and it was an experience that left us test track dummies with a smile on our faces when it sadly came to an end.
As a diehard car enthusiast, you'll know upon walking up to this beautiful example of luxury muscle that all is right with this restoration. A clean, well maintained, authentic right down to the decals and new badging car that you can hop into turn the key and drive away without a care in the world. Hurry...Please...
